Title V Cooperative Project is a collaborative effort between the University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo (UPRA) and the University of Puerto Rico at Humacao (UPRH). Both institutions are part of the public, state supported, co-educational system of higher education in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico (P.R.). Their main mission is to provide affordable and high quality higher education to its’ mostly Hispanic students population.
The major components of this grant are faculty training and support, student academic support, and library online support services. It provides for equipment and technology upgrading, and construction/remodeling of physical facilities.
This grant has made it possible to create new support structures for students and faculty members, which clearly support traditional and new learning styles and teaching methods. It has allowed us trough the establishment and enhancement of the Faculty Academic Support and Technology Resource Center (FASTRC), and the Student Resource and Academic Support Center (SRASC) at both partner institutions, to create an optimal and enhanced academic environment that provides our Hispanic students with the skills and competencies necessary for success. The grant has provided the partner institutions with the means to further enhance their student population’s education by providing innovative, and alternative learning experiences in strong compliance with the legislative intent of the Title V Program. |
